I love this post, just because I used to work in a pharmacy and am now in my first semester in library school.I can totally see the similarities between the two professions. Now if we can only get librarianship the same credibility that pharmacists get as information “professionals” we will be on our way…. (to where, I’ll leave that up to the profession itself).

We’re toying with the idea of iPads in our library as well, and especially trying to figure out how to use the rest of our Newsweek subscription now that it’s online only. If you figure out a solution, let me know!

Thanks for this post! I have been collecting asemic writing for over four years now at my online gallery The New Post-Literate. I think libraries should start to collect this work and give asemic writing its own section in the library. Someday I want a bookshelf full of asemic works, and I am probably not alone. Cheers.

Hi Kaylin,
Thanks for your interest in the African Library Project. We’re looking for volunteers in the US to collect 1,000 books and about $500 for shipping, and our partners in Botswana, Ghana, Malawi, Lesotho, and Swaziland deliver them to schools and communities and help them set up and run their libraries.

Hi Kaylin, so glad you enjoyed the New Librarianship contest we sponsored! I think you’ve done a great job of making people aware and promoting yourself.
