My name is Kaylin, and I’m the Sweet Librarian. I’m an academic “newbrarian” at a career college in Ohio, and my blog covers topics revolving directly and tangentially around newbrarianship, academic libraries, and technology both in the library and on the web. I update on the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th of every month (it’s a strange system but it works!).
So what’s so Sweet about me?
The moniker “Sweet Librarian” was coined in 2010, shortly after I graduated library school and took a temporary position as a retail cake decorator. I wanted to create a web presence to help me keep connected with my field while I job hunted, and all the cool librarians had handles – Librarian in Black, Swiss Army Librarian, Annoyed Librarian, Freelance Librarian, Travelin’ Librarian… so I dubbed myself the Sweet Librarian in honor of my bakery gig. Two years and my first professional job later, I still like the name even though the reference has become obsolete (thankfully!).
And that, children, is the story of how the Sweet Librarian got her name.
